Dev Update: USD Marketplace, Collections in TUI, Updated Metrics

We’re closing 2025 with a last update! We’ve been revisiting our monthly format to highlight at a glance our latest releases and new features, as well as some of the upcoming work coming soon to mod.io! We’re wrapping the year with a new USD pricing functionality for marketplace, new solutions in our plugins to integrate mods & UGC collections in-game.

USD Pricing for mod.io Marketplace

We’ve deployed a solution allowing games using our marketplace solution to show content prices in USD dollars as an alternative to relying on virtual currencies.

With USD pricing only the customer experience changes, the backend powering the marketplace remains the same in the background. Effectively, when set in USD pricing, as a player purchases a piece of content on the marketplace, a virtual currency pack of equivalent value is automatically purchased and spent to acquire the content. This process is invisible for the end user, as the two transactions happen simultaneously, and rely on our existing transaction flow with the revenue split and fees remaining the same, as described in our documentation.

USD Marketplace support is available for PC and consoles in our upcoming C++ SDK release, and will be rolling out in our Unreal Engine and Unity plugins in early 2026. If you are planning to implement any of our monetization solutions, get in touch with us!

Multipart Upload V2

We rolled out a backend update to our Multipart Upload system, improving on our current implementation. This will lead to performance improvements, and aims at solving some problems specific games and users were encountering with no changes required!

UGC Collections in TemplateUI

Our upcoming UE and Unity releases include UGC Collections support in TemplateUI, allowing for an easy integration of Collections in-game. Unreal support was already deployed in our December release, and Unity will followi in January’s! Template UI documentation: Unreal or Unity.

Switch 2 support

Our engineers have been hard at work on Switch 2 support across the mod.io product suite. We expect public availability to roll out across our SDK and plugins through Q1, with the C++ SDK first off the rank in early Q1, as QA puts it through its paces in December!

You can keep up with our Nintendo Switch documentation, and if you’re planning to ship your mod.io integration on Switch 2 in 2026, we encourage you to get in touch with our team to help plan your game!

New User Permission (Submit Reports)

We’re adding a new user-permission option to allow studios to selectively disable reporting capabilities for specific users on their game’s content, in order to improve the granularity of user focused moderation. It’ll be rolled out early 2026.

As always, you can find the latest in our changelog on Discord or by keeping up with our GitHub repositories and documentation.
